	Hazard Mitigation Part I—Typhoons Typhoon alert Watch out for sign boards In Taiwan, average losses caused by meteorological “Natural Disasters” go beyond millions of NT dollars every year, and about 70% of the losses are caused by Typhoon. As soon as Central Weather Bureau issues Typhoon alerts for marine or land, Ministry of the Interior sets up disaster prevention and rescue center in the National Fire Agency and invites Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Council of Agriculture, Government Information Office, Department of Health, Environmental Protection Administration and Central Weather Bureau, etc. to unite all the strength to execute the disaster prevention and rescue. Local governments also set up local disaster prevention and rescue centers to carry out the rescue. However, the Public should make the preparations in advance to protect their life and properties and to minimize the losses caused by Typhoon.
